In the event that an item is lost or damaged while checked out, it is the borrower's responsibility to provide a duplicate replacement in a timely manner. The library cannot accept money. If the borrower cannot obtain an exact replacement, the library will suggest a title that is acceptable. The library must approve any replacements. Replacing a hardback title with a paperback is unacceptable. A lost copy of Saving Private Ryan may not be replaced with a Barney video.

As with overdues, borrowing privileges are suspended when you have a lost or damaged item on your record until the matter is resolved.

If you replace a missing item and subsequently find the original item, the library will not refund the cost of the replacement. The borrower has in effect "purchased" the original item and may retain it.
